Naming notices
Under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (HPCA Act), the Dental Council has the discretion to publish a notice setting out:
- the name of any oral health practitioner who’s the subject of any order or direction
- the effect of any order or direction it has made in respect of the practitioner
- a summary of any finding the Council has made.
Our naming policy balances parliament’s expectation of transparent decision-making by health regulatory authorities, against the interests of a practitioner's individual privacy.
There are currently no naming notices in place.
Naming policy
The Dental Council may decide to name a practitioner under section 157B(2) of the HPCA Act if it is in the public interest to do so. You can read our naming policy here.
