New radiography course for dental therapists and dental hygienists approved
The University of Otago developed a new radiography course to support dental hygienists and dental therapists to remove radiography related exclusions from their scope of practice.
The Council approved the course.
On completion of the course practitioners can apply to remove the following exclusions from their scope of practice:
- Dental hygienists: intra-oral and extra-oral radiography; and
- Dental therapists: radiography and diagnostic radiography.
The university will share details on the availability of the course through Te Ohu Pūniho Ora O Aotearoa - The New Zealand Oral Health Association.
