Examinations timetable
The Dental Council offers New Zealand Dental Registration Examinations for dentists, dental specialists, dental hygienists, dental therapists and dental technicians. The examinations are held at specific times during the year. Once an examination date has been confirmed, it is listed in the timetable below.

Examinations timetable
If you wish to sit an examination, you will need to submit an application form during an open application period, as shown below.
Please note that assessment applications received outside of these dates, incorrectly completed forms or incomplete forms will not be accepted and will be returned.
New Zealand Dentist Registration Examinations (NZDREX)
NZDREX candidates must pass the NDEB equivalency process.
The equivalency process comprises the following three components:
- an assessment of your fundamental knowledge (AFK)
- an assessment of your clinical judgement (ACJ)
- an assessment of your clinical skills (ACS).
