Annual practising certificates (APCs) for dentists and dental specialists expire this Saturday 30 September 2017. The APC and retention renewal forms were posted to practitioners on 23 August and are also available to download.
If you do not receive your APC or retention form, or would like to change your practising status, please download the correct form at the above links.
Your completed form and payment must be received at the Council offices by 30 September in order for you to continue practising from 1 October.
Please note that if you are planning to send your application by post, and you live outside the main centres, you will need to get your application form into the mail as soon as possible to ensure it arrives on time.
The renewal cycle ends on a weekend this year. We will be clearing mail on Saturday 30 September. Applications received after that date will incur an additional APC fee.
If your employer is providing payment for your application, please be aware that your application will not be processed until payment has been received. Please liaise with your employer to ensure that this payment will be received prior to 30 September 2017.
Certificates of good standing
If you have practised overseas since you were last issued with an APC or were held on retention, you will need to arrange for an original certificate of good standing (COGS) which is no more than three months old to be forwarded to our offices in support of your application from each jurisdiction in which you have practised since your last APC. We cannot process your APC application until the COGS has been received.
Emergency care training certificate
If your current emergency care training certificate has expired, you will need to include confirmation of your enrolment in a new course from the course provider. Further details can be found in the medical emergencies practice standard.
Additional processing APC fee
Late applications will be charged the additional processing APC Fee. This fee, of $45.00 (GST inclusive), will be charged if you are renewing your APC and fail to get your completed and correct application to the Council by 30 September 2017.
Practitioners are reminded that the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 requires every health practitioner practising in New Zealand to hold a current APC. If you do not have a current APC on 1 October 2017, you must cease practice until such time as an APC is issued to you. The public register on our website is updated daily on working days, and you can view your APC status online here.
